We’ve heard the rumors before. Nintendo has been planning on making a new Nintendo DS for quite some time. Now we’ve got yet another report that this will happen within the year. This information comes directly from Nikkei and the details sound pretty excellent. Apparently, the newer model will have a built in camera that will be used quite a bit in upcoming DS titles. The WiFi card will be revisited in an attempt to increase the range that the new Nintendo DS can offer. Apparently the estimated price for this system is $189, but then again nothing is confirmed.

It would be interesting to see how true this information is when we get closer to the end of the year.

We’ve seen a lot of crappy games and accessories come out for the Wii since it’s launch not that long ago, so it’s hard to get excited about anything not monumental for our little white system. However, it looks like the guys over at Thrustmaster have come out with two of the hands down coolest Wiimote accessories to date. The first accessory is the epicly amazing dueling lightsaber pack. Considering The Force Unleashed has a multiplayer mode for the Wii, this pack makes sense. There are over 17 LEDs in each device. The second is what they call their Dual Trigger Gun. This puts every gun accessory to shame and even has a holster for the nunchuck.

The lightsabers will run you $34.99 for the set while the gun is only $17.99.

retro-nintendo-keychain Anyone who grew up in the 80’s can remember with fondness Duck Hunt, Paperboy and of course Super Mario. Everyone who was anyone can remember spending several hours each day, plopped in front of the television, rectangular controller in hand staring intently at the screen.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the new advances that have been made in the past 20 or so years with video games. The graphics are better, the consoles can do so much more but the NES is the one that will always hold a special place in my heart. That is why the NES keychain is such a cool gadget that any die hard gamer must have. Sorry folks don’t look for a cool keychain that resembles the PS3 controller because you wont find one, this is a one of a kind design that no one can replicate just like the NES.

ewaste8 We all know that our beloved electronics are energy hogs. So what if your PS3 costs more to run than your fridge? It’s got Metal Gear Solid 4!

It appears that Sony Ericsson is doing what it can to save the world, winning Greenpeace’s Greener Electronics Guide award for most environmentally-friendly electronics company.

The company was the only to score more than 5 out of 10 on a scale that factored companies on recycling programs, use of harmful chemicals and energy waste. Microsoft and Nintendo both scored below a three on the scale. At least Sony is winning one aspect of the video game console war!

wii_ware So far, Nintendo’s WiiWare service has been a bit of a mixed bag. It’s somewhere between the established and pretty great Xbox Live Marketplace and Sony’s still infant PS3 service.

Well Japan is taking a different angle, bringing comics to Nintendo’s machine. Sun Denshi plans to release a new, original manga via WiiWare and hopes to expand to anime and various other forms of similar entertainment.

While there hasn’t been any pricing announcement yet, they had better make it worth people’s money to discourage them from, you know, actually going out and buying comics.

Wii SportsMany of us think that playing the new Wii is an exercise that works out all of those arm muscles to the core. So many of us aren’t feeling any guilt if we don’t go outside as much or do our usual exercise routine. Unfortunately that guilty feeling is about to make its way back to us.

Researchers have studied the effects of the Wii has on our muscles and they have come to the conclusion that it is not a proper work out. Most of the sport games that people play on Wii – which require fast movements – burn only 2% more calories than those who sit around playing on their Xbox 360. So it’s time to start in on those routines again and play a few real sports.

Nintendo WiiThe Wii is one of the most popular game consoles on the market because it is unusual and everyone (no matter what age) can understand how to play it. With that being said we still believe that Nintendo could add some much needed features – like voice chat.

However, one of the top executives at Nintendo – Reggie Fils-Aime – released a statement this week that said they were thinking about adding this feature and were just working out some of the kinks. Whether or not this will happen is something that we won’t hold our breath for. Then again if one of the top guys hinted at something that may be a good indication that they really are going to do something about it. This would be a big step for the Wii and would certainly boost its popularity.
