Really? Other companies are still out there making PMP’s? We’d have figured that besides Creative, all but Apple had hung up their hat for the day. Apparently nobody told SmartQ. Their latest device, the TAO, is actually not too shabby looking. It’s got a nice 3.3 inch 480 x 320 HVGA screen offering 262,000 colors and is a code beast (it’s capable of handling MP3, OGG, WMA, FLAC, APE, AAC, WAV, PCM, and ADPCM for audio. Xvid, Divx, FLV, WMV, ASF, 3GP, MPEG, DAT, and MP4 for video). All of this running on a handy dandy 500mhz Blackfin processor.
This device seems to be China only as of now, but considering it’s only around $100 for the 4GB model, we may see it making it’s way over sooner rather than later.

It’s always confusing when one competitor makes something that works so wonderfully with their rivals. So when we heard news of the Sony ICF-CD3iP we just had to share it.
This $100-ish Dream Machine isn’t just another CD playing clock radio, it can actually work with your iPhone or iPod. Surprisingly enough it looks very sophisticated and very appealing to have on a desk.
The features of this yet to be released device do include a remote for the iPod/iPhone and even an alarm function that can work in conjunction with your devices alarm. Hopefully the audio is as good as the device looks.
For those of you who think it looks spiffy enough without the iPhone/iPod connectivity you can easily remove that little side attachment and get things going the way you truly want them to.

Sony continues to make smaller and smaller Walkman devices for those of you who haven’t yet had the urge to go get an MP3 player with video capabilities. The Walkman NWZ-S639F is the latest in the line of Walkman and offers up an itty bitty little device that does one thing and one thing only: play music.
The sound quality is exactly what you would expect from a Sony Walkman, nice and clean. But that should be kind of expected when that’s all this 16GB portable music player can possible do.
If you have no need for video on your portable player, then check out the Walkman NWZ-S639F. If you do, go get a real media device!

If you’ve already had a chance to convert all your old vinyl records over to your computer, you’re probably chomping at the bit to convert the rest of your music as well. While we haven’t found an 8-track player that can plug directly into your computer, we have fund the Ion USB Cassette Deck, for all your old mixtapes that you just can’t live with out.
The conversion quality is top notch, and the device itself can handle 2 cassettes, easily ripping the audio onto your computer. The Ion USB Cassette Deck plugs directly into your USB port and utilizes the EZ Tape Converter software it’s bundled with. Pretty soon, you’ll be rocking out to your old Salt N Pepper cassettes on your new fangled iPod.

If you’ve got $400 to spend and you’ve already purchased your Eee PC and a PS3, then perhaps you’d be interested in the Sony Rolly. What apparently is the most shortsighted and expensive gadget to hit the shelves since gas prices were under $3 per gallon, this 2GB MP3 player boasts one unique ability.
IT CAN DANCE.
Apparently, it has it’s own unique choreography software installed with it to give you some custom dance moves depending on the song playing. Don’t expect this device to serve any other purpose though, as it’s missing a headphone jack and it also has less storage space then your cellphone probably does.

If the idea of having a speaker inside of your regular pillows wasn’t good enough, the Sound Asleep pillow now comes in memory foam. Running for upwards of $70, this fancy little head rest is capable of taking a regular headphone jack line in from any device you want to plug into it. No more worries about you falling asleep with your headphone and strangling yourself like dear old mom always use to warn of. Now you can simply close your eyes and bury your face into the wonderful music coming directly from your speaker. That is, unless you like bad music.

This is one sexy MP3 player. Vivienne Tam has a new MP3 player they call the TAM MP3walkman that they plan to display at their flagship store in New York. The company has been making stylish handset pouches for Motorola and is obviously looking to move forward and bring their trendy designs to new heights. I must admit this is one of the nicer “designer” devices I have come across.
