Tried out the new iTunes 8 yet? Well if you’ve got a jailbroken iPhone or are attempting to jailbreak your iPhone, you may not want to give it a shot after all. As of right now the PwnageTool doesn’t exactly play nice with iTunes 8. While Apple can’t undo what the PwnageTool does through firmware updates, the new iTunes does make it currently impossible to restore your iPhone to an iPwned ipsw.
The DevTeam is working their hardest on making their next release handle this issue, but is it really needed? Considering you can’t yet unlock the 3G network, there’s not a whole lot of use for it besides customizing how your iPhone looks. Perhaps if that’s your thing you should avoid the latest iTunes.

Itching for that new iPhone update? Well the 2.0.2 firmware is now available! This update doesn’t actually provide you with any specific detail as to what it is fixing, but it does seem to be geared towards fixing a lot of issues that specifically 3G iPhone users have been experiencing.
As users find themselves downloading the firmware, we’re receiving reports that it actually decreases/removes the lag associated with browsing through your contacts and a few other places. Download at your own risk, especially those of you who have Pwned your iPhone as this could potentially brick it or at least mess up all those wonderful customizations you spent your time setting up.

Mobile Fun’s newest product has a lot of potential to knock those battery packs and quick charge holsters out of the water. This solar energy phone charger uses a 1500mAh battery pack that can fully charge up in just 3 hours in the sun. If it’s a cloudy day out, they’ve also got a mini USB plug to make sure you’re phone doesn’t crap out like your plans to go to the beach.
The case fits the iPhone fairly well but does leave noticeable bulk. The advantage is that once it’s charged, you can just pop it out and your good to go. If the white or black case matches your outfit, you’re even better off as you’ll be able to gain some juice while rocking it out on your hip, and none will be the wiser!
Besides, it only costs about $54.

Waking up this morning nice and early brought about a flurry of new blog posts and stories for me to read. After all, I was away from my computer for at least 6 hours. But out of all the stories I saw, one caught my eye specifically:
iPhone App Store Walkthrough, Apps Now Available
I’m fairly certain I leapt up for my phone, ran to find my cord, scrambled to manually download iTunes 7.7 because it wouldn’t automatically upgrade to it for me, and then cried a bit on the inside, like you do when you realize your parents lied to you all those years, because iPhone Firmware 2.0 was still no where to be found.
Sure, you can browse the Apps and view everything you’ll be able to play with tomorrow on your 3G iPhone or hopefully upgraded EDGE iPhone, but what good does that do me now?
Thanks Apple….again.

Astute Apple fans may have noticed that earlier today the Apple website went down, leaving their ever telling “We’ll be back soon.” post-it. Makes sense of course, with the 3G iPhone and MobileMe launching this Friday in the U.S. and a full day earlier in New Zealand.
But when the store returned from it’s quick sign-off, there were no visible changes. Just because we can’t see anything, doesn’t mean Apple doesn’t have everything in place and ready to go. The ability for them to instantly switch everything over without downing the site closer to the launch is actually a much smarter move on their end, so that when we’ve all got our new devices in hand, there is absolutely no down time.
Let’s see what Apple slips out this week to keep the anticipation growing!

What does T-Mobile and the iPhone have in common? No, the iPhone is still an AT&T exclusive in the U.S., but they’ll both FINALLY be 3G very soon. While the exact dates for when T-Mobile will be rolling out their 3G service aren’t set in stone, the the 20+ zoned markets that they’ve already established will be ready to receive that wondrous almost last gen technology that even the most basic of phones have had for years.
But hey, you probably we’re using T-Mobile for anything more than texting Tony Hawk anyway, right?

If you’re looking for more of a business solution out of your new 3G iPhone launching July 11th, you’ll be disappointed to hear that their is as of yet, no information about tethering the device for internet connection. The current iPhone plan and the new one made available for the 3G iPhone don’t currently offer the ability to tether written in the contract and as all the information has been revealed so far, it’s hard to assume that they would simply hide this feature from the masses.
Most other cell phone plans have the tethering option billed into them. While it may be, and currently is possible with the current iPhone, surfing over EDGE is not only slow, but it will cost you a pretty penny if AT&T catches you.

iPhone 2.0 Firmware has been slated for a July release and has a bag full of new features that new and old users alike will be dying to get their hands on. Some of the changes will be little and more cosmetic, like a different peel back image on the maps screen and a new 3G logo. But the big changes, like the addition of the App Store, the ability to save pictures from emails, and mass delete emails and text messages are the big ones.
No word yet on copy and paste…..seriously.
Suspicions seem to point at a combined launch of iPhone 2.0 Firmware with the 3G iPhone on July 11th, but we’ll have to wait and see.
Also, iPod Touch users will have to pay $9.95 for the update.

RIM seems to be on a roll recently with all the various Blackberry devices they’ve concocted or launched. Their highly anticipated touch screen device named Thunder has made its way from the drawing board to reality as you can see from these photos.
What’s interesting is the timing that RIM has taken to launch this phone. Although no launch date is clear as of yet, having such a stylish looking device backed by one of the most popular business cell phone brands get some media exposure as we crawl closer towards the launch of the 3G iPhone is sure to convince many individuals to wait.
The device is slated to launch with Verizon. No word yet as to whether or not we’ll see the Blackberry Thunder on other carriers.

Rumors surrounding the next generation of iPhones to hit the shelves this year, have been flying around like crazy. Unfortunately, the only solid evidence anyone can confirm as of yet is that the new model will in fact be a 3G iPhone. Many individuals within the business world have publicly weighed in on their opinion on what else the phone will carry, the price, sizes, and additional features, but none have any solid evidence.
It does seem reasonable, however, that the new 3G iPhone will launch around the same time that the original did, and that the EDGE iPhones will receive a permanent price cut before being phased out. Looks like we’ll have to wait and find out.
