Voip Calling On The iPhone

iphone_voip_icall_1 Good news for those of you who have iPhones!

iCall, a Voip company, has announced their self-titled iPhone application that will allow you to switch into your Voip service before a call is connected if there are available WiFi connections around. While the application has no real chance of working on 3G and EDGE, most people find themselves surrounded by free WiFi most of the day.

The really exciting aspect of this application is that the company claims that it will be listed on the Apple App Store come launch time. If that’s the case, then it looks like Voip has been given the OK on the iPhone officially, or they’re just ignoring AT&T.

AT&T Offers Free WiFi….Sorta

The ability to be a mobile blogger or web entrepreneur has surely been hampered by the rising cost of gas prices, forcing many of these once nomadic individuals to abandon their traveling ways. But for those adventurous few, there is always still the allure of free WiFi from our favorite coffee spot.

While it does require a veritable cocktail of requirements to achieve, Starbucks, through their new AT&T WiFi, are now able to offer a 2 hour free pass per day to those with a Starbucks card used in the past, AT&T phone service, and allowing AT&T to mail you a few times per year.

Doesn’t sound too bad, good thing I can throw my Eee in my backpack and skooter over to the local Starbucks!

Intel And Belkin Back Bluetooth Killer

With all the hype that has surrounded Bluetooth, its unfortunate that it never actually lived up to it. The ability to stream music or media over Bluetooth has been so limited that the idea of developing that further has actually been abandoned.

With a gap of that magnitude needing to be filled, the newest player to the connectivity game, Ozmo, backed by Intel and partnered with Belkin, is looking to change everything. Using the same power consumption as Bluetooth, but operating on parallel WiFi connections, Ozmo is going to have all the benefits of Bluetooth, with even more perks.

N-Gage Software Goes Live Monday

N-Gage Software Goes Live MondayAfter the short life that the N-Gage enjoyed as the mutated offspring of a cell phone and a Tiger Electronic hand-held system, it has officially become reborn. Owners of Nokia phones N81, N81 8GB, N82, N95 can pre-load the software for this Monday’s official launch. The N-Gage software will act as a Steam or Xbox Live service for all the games that the network has to offer. Hopefully, we’ll be seeing games like Pocket Kingdom: Own The World come back to the service and make cellular gaming less of a joke then it currently is. At least it doesn’t cost $59.99 for the service.

Australians Wonder Why WiMax ?

WiMaxIt looks like the saving grace that many had hope WiMax to be has actually proved fairly lackluster when implemented by Buzz Broadband in Australia. The purported 50 kilometer distance that WiMax boasts fell short at a stunningly low maximum of 2 kilometers with speeds so slow that voice calls where unmanageable on the service, similar to how my iPhone is.

With Buzz Broadband and fellow Australian competitors Intermode throwing in the flag, we’ll have to see how Sprint and Clearwire implement WiMax in the States or if AT&T and Verizon will beat them to it with their LTE Technology.

Bluetrek Creates SurfaceSound Bluetooth For Visor

Bluetrek Bluetooth Visor KitFor years motorists have been warned against driving while talking on their cellphone. Many states have even made it illegal and many more are trying. Because of this companies are finding easier and better ways to allow us to talk without endangering our lives.

Bluetrek has created the newest bluetooth car kit – called SurfaceSound – which can be mounted onto your visor. The SurfaceSound allows you to talk without any hands through the mic that picks up everything. However, if you prefer to have some privacy then you can always plug in Bluetrek’s headsets into the USB port which will also charge it up for you.

Bluetrek also has the SurfaceSound Compact – which is lighter and smaller and comes equipped with only the speakers and mic.

Wheel Bluetooth Kit Allows For Easier Talk Time

Hands Free Bluetooth Wheel KitDon’t you hate it when you have to make a phone call while you are driving and you have to wait for a red light before you can do anything? You could always take your eyes off the road for the few seconds it takes for you to dial the number – but we all know that this could lead to a serious accident.

Finally there is a device that can help us with this. It is a hands free Wheel Bluetooth Kit. It is an easier for you to make important phone calls all at your fingertips (literally). The new kit fits easily on to your steering wheel and has a small screen that allows you to view your phone book easily. It also has call-control buttons and a speakerphone that allows you to easily talk with someone.

When they are being released and how much they will have not yet been confirmed.
