Sadly you won’t be able to order Black & Decker’s Thermal Leak Detector until spring 2009, but this but small, useful money-saving product sounds as if it’s going to be a hit! The device’s object is to find out where cold air is entertaining your house, for example in cracks in window-frames etc. Once you’ve identified where cold-air is getting into your house, you’re able to stop it, which means that your house will be warmer. Your able to tell where cold air is coming by the easy to use interface, when the light is blue, there is cold-air where the blue-spot is, it’s simple and effective.

With today’s focus on the world going green, in home power consumption monitors have been popping up all over the place. Most monitors simply tell you what a wasteful person you’re being, but a new UK service called AlertMe could stand to make you more efficient. The service starts at $260 for the hardware and $17.50 a month, with Smart Plugs purchasable for $43 which communicate wirelessly to the heating controller you purchased. Once your service is active, you can monitor your energy usage online via computer or phone. The service also includes key fobs, which will automatically turn down the heat and deactivate devices when you’re away, so you conserve energy. You can also control your thermostat by text message, so you’ll never be more than a few key presses away from a warm home.

It’s always confusing when one competitor makes something that works so wonderfully with their rivals. So when we heard news of the Sony ICF-CD3iP we just had to share it.
This $100-ish Dream Machine isn’t just another CD playing clock radio, it can actually work with your iPhone or iPod. Surprisingly enough it looks very sophisticated and very appealing to have on a desk.
The features of this yet to be released device do include a remote for the iPod/iPhone and even an alarm function that can work in conjunction with your devices alarm. Hopefully the audio is as good as the device looks.
For those of you who think it looks spiffy enough without the iPhone/iPod connectivity you can easily remove that little side attachment and get things going the way you truly want them to.

It’s always confusing when two companies under the same umbrella start making similar products. So while Sony has clearly been the leader of digital picture frames, Sony Ericsson has decided that they should try their hand in this mess as well.
The Sony Ericsson IDP-100 frame isn’t due out until the fourth quarter this year, but we’ve already got a read on the specs for it. It’s got a 7 inch WVGA screen, built-in Bluetooth, a M2 Memory Stick slot (capable of handling SD, microSD, and Memory Stick Duo), USB port, and a decent internal storage (500 or so pictures). There’s no remote with this version due to the controls being built directly into the screen. Too bad they didn’t allow it to actually communicate with some of their cellphones!

Comcast, we’ve got a problem.
First you decide to invade the privacy of your customer base and establish which ones are torrenting and have slowly been killing their connection. Now you’re going to set a physical bandwidth cap per month?
The press release below issued by Comcast is announcing that their new monthly bandwidth cap is now set at 250GB per account. They’re even nice enough to break this down into the number of emails this would equate!
But the issue is, this doesn’t just hinder pirates, people who legally purchase movies and tv shows may easily find themselves at that cap on a particularly heavy month. What to do!
Read the press release after the jump.

Only in Japan could something so cool exist. The Fabria Freshness Gun transforms the process of cleaning up or hiding the smell that your gross roommates leave behind into simply enjoying a nice wintery afternoon. The Gun actually shoots out what looks like a mixture between fake snow and white confetti, but what it’s actually doing is coating your home with a “soft, snow-like mist that uses the natural deodorizing qualities of astringent persimmon and grapefruit.”
The flakes do eventually dissolve, but there isn’t really any indication of how long it would take for them to do so. But on the bright side, it is environmentally friendly!
