Have you Lost your iPhone in Your House?

One of the most prevalent complaints I hear in my house is “Where is my phone?” It’s usually the kids took it to play some video game on it and left it somewhere or they did it to themselves, after getting home from work. And once it’s dead, good luck in calling it to see where it is, even if you have Apple’s own phone finder. Well, a kickstarter project, which should be available in a week or so on the iTunes store, called Last Alert wants to help people find their battery drained phones before they pull their hair out.

The app has three different features. One is that it will sound an alarm when it needs to be charged so that you can get it to the power connector before it dies. Kind of like the battery alert in a smoke detector. Then there is the email alert, which will actually email you the last GPS coordinates of where it was when it is about to die (which you can then see on Google Maps). Useful if you left it somewhere unexpected like that party you were at, where you thought someone walked off with it. But even if you miss these two warnings, there is Track-It, which using the built in compass (if you have a second iDevice) will actually guide you to the phone. Now if I could just get one that works with my keys.

The brilliant thing is that even if the iPhone or iPod does die on you, you can still find it. Very helpful and we can certainly see why they were able to come up with the cash they did on kickstarter.com, which has helped a lot of inventors bring wonderful things to light.

Expect it in the Apple appstore soon and if you would still like to help them raise a bit more cash for advertising, they are still looking for donations on the item’s kickstarter page.
