Twitter announced yesterday in a press conference that it would soon be monetizing its site, starting with a form of advertising that is similar to adwords at best. Analysts have been asking for long as to how and when twitter would monetize its micro-blogging platform and the answer is here. Twitter, through promoted tweets would be looking to add revenue to its already bulging estimates for the year. Brands that make use of twitter will be able to put in adverts about their products at the top of search results, kind of similar to ad-sense in a way.
