g-2 HTC has managed to win over many phone users in the past several years. Whether swinging them from their existing smart phone or breaking them into the scene, HTC has been there for it all. But the main turn off for a lot of people interested in the HTC was the lack of standard keypad for dialing if it had a keyboard.

HTC has decided to fix that issue by revamping their old S710 series, but making it tough enough to stand with the big dogs. The phone runs Windows Mobile Stanard and offers a full QWERTY keypad that can be slid out from underneath. You’re also looking at 7.2Mbps HSDPA speeds on both 900 and 2100MHz bands, quadband EDGE, a 3.2 megapixel camera, WiFi, GPS, and a very sharp 2.4 inch QVGA display.

The candy bar styling will keep things nice and simple until you truly need to bust out that full keyboard for whatever reason you may have.

g-1 eBook on the go readers rejoice! It looks like we’ve got some pretty positive information that the second generation of the Kindle will be hitting shelves in the near future.

After an interview with Business Week, Amazing cleared the air on a few things regarding the original Kindle and even posted up a nice $100 discount off of the original system. The new system, which has already been designed with a better screen, thinner body, and more solid overall operating system, should be coming along soon enough to fill in once the older models have been more thoroughly sold.

The price point for the new Kindle is sitting in the $249-299 and should be available for eBook fanatics sometime this fall.

Only in Japan could something so cool exist. The Fabria Freshness Gun transforms the process of cleaning up or hiding the smell that your gross roommates leave behind into simply enjoying a nice wintery afternoon. The Gun actually shoots out what looks like a mixture between fake snow and white confetti, but what it’s actually doing is coating your home with a “soft, snow-like mist that uses the natural deodorizing qualities of astringent persimmon and grapefruit.”

The flakes do eventually dissolve, but there isn’t really any indication of how long it would take for them to do so. But on the bright side, it is environmentally friendly!

g-2 It looks like the geniuses over at MIT have done it again. This time, their achievements have come from developing a microbattery. All of our gadgets and toys seem to run off batteries these days, so the talented engineers from MIT have developed a method for both creating and installing these microbatteries. These batteries are small enough to be used with medical sensors and directly on microchips.

While this won’t mean that your battery on the next iPhone will be smaller than you can actually see, it does mean that there will be a lot smaller technologies coming forward (think nano technology) in the coming years do to achievements like this.

The rumors are begining to solidify a little bit more as the most recent batch of 80GB PS3’s that have hit the market may actually be running the 65nm RSX GPU.

What does this mean to the average consumer? Well, unless you’re looking to buy a brand new PS3 or upgrade your existing one, not too much. The 65nm processor will of course run at a lower voltage overall, but it won’t be making your games run any smoother.

The only tests so far that have lead to any evidence supporting this claim have been a drop in the power usage by these units while running and idle as well. These support the claims that this chip might be in use as that’s one of the only ways that the system could be running at a lower voltage compared to the older 40GB units.

g-3 TomTom has really been stepping things up over the past few days. We’ve seen the announcements for the PRO 4000 and PRO 8000 series the other day, plus the GO 940 Live has even been discussed. So what makes us suspect that there going to continue this GPS rampage? Well, with the IFA coming up soon, there’s no real reason for TomTom to hold back.

We’ll have to wait and see exactly what will surface from the upcoming IFA, however the price tag for the GO 940 LIVE ($871) may be enough to stifle your interest. For now, it’s a safe bet to hold off on buying any new GPS devices.

g-2 LG seems to be pumping out a few different cell phones lately. While this isn’t exactly the Prada II, LG has released a bit more information for the follow-up to their KC910, the Viewty. This little device is only 14 mm thick with a sharp touchscreen. The phone also sports an 8 megapixel camera with a quad-band GSM /7.2Mbps HSDPA radio, plus the usual features such as Bluetooth 2.0, WiFi, and a microSD.

The Viewty is a pretty unique phone, considering that it runs on a built in Xenon flash and has great multimedia capabilities such as video recording, TV output, and is capable of playing DivX and XviD right out of the box. Throw in some GPS for some good measure and you’re looking at a really great phone overall. This phone is expected to be out this October.

Shuttle has decided to hop on the bandwagon on ultra small nettop pcs. Their latest creation, the X27 is much smaller than what they’ve previously released. This little device runs with very little power, requiring only 23 watts when idle and 36 watts while active. Most of the energy saving aspect come from the fact that it’s sporting the new Intel Atom chipset. This also means that the fan noise is next to nothing.

The case isn’t that big either at 10- x 7- x 2.75 inches. There hasn’t been an announced date or price yet, but we’re sure that we’ll be hearing more about it by the end of the month.

g-3 Got need for a new portable gadget that only does….email?

Well if you do, you should check out the Peek emailer. The Peek is simply a stripped down handheld that still has it’s full QWERTY keyboard for doing one thing and one thing alone, writing email. What’s really interesting and confusing about this device at the same time is the fact that it only works through a T-Mobile service contract. Sure you can purchase the device from Target for $100 without a contract, but you’ll need to pay $15 a month to actually use it.

Without being able to connect to WiFi and having a monthly fee attached to it, this seems like the worst idea you could possibly fill your pocket with.

g-2 Trying to follow what’s going on with Google Android is almost impossible at this point. But word has managed to leak through in a semi-authoritative manner that is leaving many hopefuls looking forward to the month of October.

The HTC Dream/G1 through T-Mobile is set to go on presale on September 17th and last until October 3rd. The build up comes to an end on October 13th release date for the public.

The phone is expected to go for $199 with a two year contract. As of right now there isn’t any one-year option currently available. Whether this means you won’t be able to purchase this phone unsubsidized or not is another question completely.

The monthly plans seem to be the only truly solid information, with $35 getting you unlimited data and messaging or $25 fetching you unlimited data and 400 messages.
