The Centrino 2 has barely made it’s way out into the wild, but that doesn’t stop Intel for getting started on their new laptop platform codename: Calpella. The plans for this new architecture are, as always, still in flux so much could change between now and it’s actual release. But as of yet, Intel has been pretty clear that this new CPU and integrated chipset will be supporting WiMAX, and wireless b/g/n connectivity.
The integrated chipset they’re planning on using is called the Ibex Peak-M and is suppose to handle a good deal of functionality that past chipset’s couldn’t match. Unfortunately not much more is known about it.
We’ll keep you posted as Intel comes further to the actual development of their new laptop platform.
