Ah, remember the days when those computers you could fold up and carry with you were called Laptops? Well somewhere along the line, they realized that the heat put off by those systems where way to strong for anyone to safely have on their lap if they ever wished to have children. So after switching the name to Notebooks, we’re still left with one very large issue: the lap is still the perfect place for them.

Our friends over at Thermaltake must have felt the same way (or had the desire to NOT feel the same way) and also had a soft spot in their hearts for the human ear, because they’ve put their heads together and come up with a nice and portable solution to save you and future generation from harm and discomfort.

The Thermaltake iXoft R150N01 weighs just under 640g and is a completely foldable to bring with you anywhere. The iXoft is made to fit directly under a 15 inch laptop, but works pretty well with laptops ranging from 12 to 17 inches. I wouldn’t recommend placing a subnotebook like the Eee PC on it, because it will be way to big for it, but to each his or her own.

Now the really cool thing is, that their patented HeatShift Technology not only manages to disperse the heat away from places it really shouldn’t be, but it also cancels out the sound of your laptop fans that would be now blowing against the bottom of the pad. While you may think that’s nothing special, the truth of the matter is that those fans can make a lot of sound against a normal surface, making your otherwise quiet system seem a bit loud.
