When it comes time to replace that old power supply inside your favorite computer or you’re looking to build up a brand new system, GMC Power Supply’s should be the first place you look. Many cases come packaged with their own power supply, and while many of them are quality, purchasing an independently made power supply can give you a few more options and a lot more comfort knowing that it wasn’t a packaged deal.
This specific model, the GMC AP-600f12v offers up a full 600 watts of power to whatever your system could need through a +12v1 and +12v2 output. Several years ago, 600 watts was quite the sizeable power supply, but with Quad Core processors and Quad SLI graphics card setups, you’re going to need something up in this realm of power. Unless you’re going to be running some massive equipment, this specific power supply will fit your needs very well.
The GMC AP-600f12v power supply is built to ATX standards, offering a 24 pin output connector directly to the motherboard and processor. On the bottom of it, you’ll also have a heavy duty 120mm cooling fan doing plenty of good to keep not only that power supply cool but also circulate some air throughout the rest of the case. Best part is, the fan is one of the quietest fans I’ve heard on a power supply in a long time.
You have your fair share of connectors so you shouldn’t have any issue with any of your hardware that you’ll be filling your case up with. You’re looking at 3 SATA connectors, seven 4 pin IDE connectors, a 6 pin PCI-e connector, a 4 pin FDD SATA hard drive connector, and two PCI-EX connectors. You’d be hard pressed to actually fill your system efficiently with enough components for this power supply to not have enough power for your needs. But then again, you could be a fan of loading your system up with old hard drives and other garbage. Who knows.
There’s no real need to get fancy on the looks of the power supply or look inside the power supply itself, because it doesn’t really require that. It does it’s job and doesn’t muck up your cool looking case if that’s your type of thing. Oh, and if it wasn’t obvious before, never ever open up your power supply, no matter how cool you think it will look. This power supply is all around a heavy duty piece of kit that will keep you satisfied and running your new or rebuilt rig for a long long time.
We would like to thank GMC for supplying us with this wonderful power supply to review.
