Toshiba displayed their new SpursEngine B.E. Cell processor at the 2008 CES hoping to put it through some tests that would prove its worth to consumers and computer geeks everywhere. Some of the tests that they conducted were facial recognition, gesture control, and video transcoding. Toshiba is working to be one of the few manufacturers that gives ‘heavy duty’ processing. Toshiba was proud to say that it succeeded all the tests at only four cores – which is less than what the PS3 uses. This may be the next best thing to power future computers.
