This week at Nellis Air Force Base (on the outskirts of Las Vegas) the largest solar photovoltaic (14 megawatts) in North America was finally ready to be used. This new solar energy uses 25% of its power for the entire Air Force Base – which covers 140 acres.
The solar photovoltaic uses 72,000 solar panels through the use of SunPower’s Tracker technology. The U.S. Air Force, MMA Renewable Ventures, SunPower, and Nevada Power Company worked together to put the new solar device together. According to Matt Cheney – the CEO of MMA Renewable Ventures – the new device not only works well – but looks great. “This is artwork,” he stated. “You should sell photos of this. It’s brilliant!”
