ZIOVA Introduces ClearStream CS615

Ziova CS615ZIOVA’s has given us information on their newest product – the ClearStream CS615. If it is anything like the previous ClearStream CS505 HD Network DVD Media Player than we can only assume that this will be just as good.

Ziova built the CS615 with the newest chipset technology – Sigma Designs 8634. This chipset allows the device to play anything that can be downloaded onto it. The only thing that it doesn’t have is a built in DVD drive. However, it can still support Blu-ray and HD-DVD.

The new player will be available next year in March and will be sold for $329.

Grinch Strikes Again And Swipes An iPod

NoteIt looks like another child was visited by the Grinch this year only this time he took an iPod instead of a PS3. The young girl from Washington D.C. was hoping to open up her gift and find something cool inside. She was excited when she saw a box for the Apple iPod. Unfortunately all that was inside the box was a note.

“Reclaim your mind from the media shackles. Read a book and resurrect yourself. To claim your capitalistic garbage go to your nearest Apple store.”

This is someone who desperately wanted to make a statement to someone. We are hoping next time he could try a more conventional method instead of picking on us electronic junkies.

Largest Solar Photovoltaic In North America Is Up And Running

Solar PhotovoltaicThis week at Nellis Air Force Base (on the outskirts of Las Vegas) the largest solar photovoltaic (14 megawatts) in North America was finally ready to be used. This new solar energy uses 25% of its power for the entire Air Force Base – which covers 140 acres.

The solar photovoltaic uses 72,000 solar panels through the use of SunPower’s Tracker technology. The U.S. Air Force, MMA Renewable Ventures, SunPower, and Nevada Power Company worked together to put the new solar device together. According to Matt Cheney – the CEO of MMA Renewable Ventures – the new device not only works well – but looks great. “This is artwork,” he stated. “You should sell photos of this. It’s brilliant!”

Honda Using ASIMO Replica For Rose Parade Float

Honda FloatHonda is known for making its mark in different parades – but next year at the Rose Parade in Pasadena it looks like they will be creating a memory that we won’t easily forget. Their float will show off a large replica of the ASIMO – which will have generators that will allow “the hood of the truck to fold forward to become an aircraft cockpit, the doors and sides of the truck to unfold outward to become wings, the wheels to tuck under the body, and the bed of the truck to open and take on the form of an aircraft tail section, complete with rocket engines - and even real fire.”

Poetically enough they are calling it the “Passport to the Future”. You can bet that we if we aren’t there in person we will definitely be sitting at out televisions waiting to see what happens.

Marantz Introduces VP-11S2 Projector

Marantz VP-11S2 ProjectorWe are excited to see all of the new gadgets that will be arriving in 2008. Already we have been informed that Marantz is making a comeback for the New Year and has given us a bit of information on their new VP-11S2 1080p DLP projector.

The new model is similar to the VP-11S1H except that it allows is built with an extra HDMI 1.3 input and has a DarkChip4 chipset. This new chipset increases that brightness by up to 800 lumens and gives it a 12,000:1 ratio contrast. We are expecting great things from their new model and even though we know it will be pricey (most likely around $15,000) like all of their products – we think its safe to say that it will have the best quality.

Info On Apple’s 1.1.3 Firmware For iPhone

Apple iPhoneApple is coming out with a new iPhone version firmware and as to be expected – someone has leaked out a bit of information for us to soak in. The new 1.1.3 firmware will be able to support SMS to many different recipients. The home screen has been revamped and will allow users to move around their icons and their web bookmarks as they please. Also the Google map will allow give users a hybrid view – making it easier for them to find things.

We’re not sure right now if this is all the upgrades we can expect from the new firmware. Next month Steve will go into every detail and will explain it to us. We are hoping that there is more to expect. If not than we don’t think that anyone should even bother with the new upgrade.

Will The Nikon D60 Replace The D40x?

Nikon D40xNikon is releasing their new digital SLR in the Spring of 2008. The new camera – which will be named the D60 – is on the lower end of the line. For now this camera is just a rumor and because of that we don’t have many details on it.

Another rumor that has been floating around the Nikon website was the news that production of the D40x – which received positive reviews – is being put to a standstill. If this is true than that might mean that the D60 is a replacement for the D40x. We hope that Nikon will reveal all in a couple of weeks.
