Today a few venture companies in Western Japan unveiled a ladybug shaped robot that they plan to launch in 2009. The robot will be used to clean public restrooms at rest stops in Japan.
The Ladybot measures about 1-meter tall and 1.35 meter’s long and is being called Lady Bird. It is equipted with water tanks, brushes and tons of other heavy duty tools needed to scrub the dirty floors at the rest area bathrooms. Obstacle detection sensors are built in to allow Lady Bird to safely do it’s thing without running over people’s feet. The robot is also going to be programmed to engage in simple conversations with restroom users. Price? Around $30k
